Christmas stocking is an easy sewing project and takes very little fabric. Perfect for using your craft stash! You can make a bunch of stockings in an afternoon, for your home or for gifts!
Choose your fabrics. Flannel is a good choice, as well as fleece or cotton. You'll need the main fabric, a coordinating fabric for the turned cuff at the top and a cord or a ribbon for the hanging loop.
You can choose to use the same fabric for the inner and the outer side of the stocking or use different fabric for each side. Wash, dry & press the fabric before you start.
LIST OF SUPPLIES
Sewing machine
Fabric for the main body
Fabric for the coordinating cuff
Cord or ribbon for the hanging loop
Matching thread
Scissor or Rotary cutter & cutting mat
Now that you have the pattern & the supplies let's move on to sewing.
You have to cut the main Stocking shape 4 times (Two pairs). Two pieces must be facing to the right & two to the left. Cut the turning cuff 2 times. Cut the hanging cord or ribbon about 6cm / 2.35'' long.
Place the cuff over the main body having right side to right side and stich to attach.
Do the same for the other side.
Do the same for the other pair placing the hanger loop folded, inside one seam.
Lay the one pair of stocking pieces over the other, having right side to right side. Stitch all around to attach them leaving a gap (big enough for your hand to go through). Place your hand inside the gap and pull everything inside out.
Stitch to close the gap, tidy up everything in place & give it a final press.
You're done!
